How hard can it be to deliver something from one island to another?

How hard can it be to deliver something from one island to another?
Or the story of Bell's birthday Fiasco.

January 26th is my beautiful Bhel's birthday. by this time we've been talking for four or five weeks and I wanted to try to do something special for her birthday. It can be difficult to manage the romantic aspects of a relationship over an 8000 mile distance but I am to this day still bound and determined to do it. So here was the plan I wanted to send you a bouquet of roses, a birthday cake (Black Forest chocolate cake to be exact), and send her money to purchase a tablet. now the tablet is also for my benefit because her Note 2 phone was not the best at handling Skype.  Skype is proving to be a major asset in building this relationship as it allows us to see each other every day twice a day and for at least a couple hours in each conversation sometimes even longer. But I digress from the story.

I decided to use a website called flora 2000, they are advertised on the front page of CB end seem to be connected to the site in some way. On the 8th of January I placed my order  coming to about $80 total for cake and roses, and of course delivery charges. not bad considering where it was going to. the roses were to come out of Manila, and the cake was to be prepared by a bakery in Tacloban, and then delivered also.

I had to tell Bhel to be expecting something from me, otherwise being that it is her birthday she might be off somewhere else when the packages arrived. this of course was an assumption that they would actually deliver stuff on her birthday like I requested. Bhel’s birthday came and went and there are no flowers, and there was no cake. Bhel waisted her day waiting, and it lead to our first spat, which I feel bad about to this day. The site manage to deliver the flowers a full 24 hours late, and they were never able to deliver the cake. Nearly two weeks later the bakery contacted Bhel to ask her to pick up her birthday cake. by this time I had canceled the order and asked for a refund. The bakery that was responsible for the cake actually continue to contact bell for a couple of weeks about this cake.

The really good things that came out of this is that I learned that a larger time frame is needed to accurately get stuff to be delivered. using this knowledge I was able to order Bhel’s Valentine's Day candy and flowers far enough ahead of time to ensure that she received them for the holiday. although the new site delivered the items to her before Valentine's Day, they actually delivered a day early. looking back at that I would rather a little early then a lot late.

The tablet that Bhel purchased which is a tab 3 has been a great asset in our relationship. it has an excellent Wi-Fi range, a clear camera, and handles Skype very well. I strongly recommend anyone going through this process to invest in a good tablet and or laptop for their overseas love as this will allow you more options for things to do together while you wait on your k1 visa process.
